Spikes-Spider Snow Chains
Spikes-Spider snow chains are made by Confon in Switzerland. Apart from their Easy models, Spikes-Spider chains are unique, because they don't grip the tyre at all, but instead clip onto a plate fixed to the wheel rim, meaning that they "float around the tyre", self-cleaning as they go.
Most external-fitting chains, including Polaire's Grip and Steel Grip and König's K-Summit, hold onto the wheel at a single point. Standard Spikes-Spider chains use up to five fixing points instead, a system Confon holds the patent for, which makes for a more reliable fit.
They can also be resized, so drivers who move between cars with similar wheel sizes get long-term value from a single set, and every component on the SPORT models can be replaced individually as it wears.
That combination has made Spikes-Spider one of the most respected snow chain systems available. They are supplied as original equipment to manufacturers including Bentley, and long-standing customers include emergency services such as the German Red Cross, the Johanniter rescue organisation, and numerous fire brigades in Germany and Switzerland.
